Binomial coefficient

Gives the number of ways to choose k items from n items when order does not matter. It appears throughout combinatorics, probability and the binomial theorem.

{n \choose k} = \frac{n!}{k! \, (n-k)!}

What the symbols mean

total number of items, a non-negative integer
number of items chosen, an integer with 0 \le k \le n
factorial of n, the product of all positive integers up to n
factorial of k
