Heron's formula
Gives the area of a triangle directly from the lengths of its three sides, using the semi-perimeter s. It is used when the height is unknown but all three side lengths are known.
A=\sqrt{s(s-a)(s-b)(s-c)}, \quad s=\frac{a+b+c}{2}What the symbols mean
| area of the triangle | |
| length of the first side | |
| length of the second side | |
| length of the third side | |
| semi-perimeter, \frac{a+b+c}{2} |
