Polynomial in standard sum form
Writes a polynomial in one variable as a finite sum of constant coefficients multiplied by successive powers of the variable. It is the basic definition used throughout algebra and calculus.
P(x)=\sum_{k=0}^{n}a_{k}x^{k}What the symbols mean
| the polynomial as a function of the variable x | |
| the variable | |
| the degree of the polynomial, a non-negative integer | |
| the summation index running from 0 to n | |
| the coefficient of x^k, a constant |
