Angular measure of an arc
The plane angle subtended at the centre of a circle equals the arc length divided by the radius, giving the angle in radians. It is used whenever an angle is measured from an arc of a circle.
\theta = \frac{s}{r}What the symbols mean
| plane angle in radians (rad) | |
| arc length along the circle (same length unit as r) | |
| radius of the circle (same length unit as s) |
