Slope-intercept form of a linear equation
Gives the equation of a straight line in terms of its slope and y-intercept. It is used to graph lines and to describe linear relationships between two variables.
y = mx + bWhat the symbols mean
| dependent variable, the output value on the vertical axis | |
| independent variable, the input value on the horizontal axis | |
| slope of the line, the rate of change of y with respect to x | |
| y-intercept, the value of y where the line crosses the vertical axis |
