Electric dipole moment
Gives the electric dipole moment of a pair of equal and opposite charges as the charge times the vector separating them, pointing from the negative charge to the positive one. It is used to describe the charge distribution of molecules and antennas and how they respond to electric fields.
\boldsymbol{p} = q(\boldsymbol{r}_{+} - \boldsymbol{r}_{-})What the symbols mean
| electric dipole moment vector (C·m) | |
| magnitude of the charge (C) | |
| position vector of the positive charge (m) | |
| position vector of the negative charge (m) |
