Equation of a sphere
This equation gives the points on the surface of a sphere of radius r centred at the origin of three-dimensional Cartesian coordinates. Shifting the centre to a point (a,b,c) replaces each coordinate with its difference from that centre.
x^2+y^2+z^2=r^2What the symbols mean
| x-coordinate of a point on the sphere | |
| y-coordinate of a point on the sphere | |
| z-coordinate of a point on the sphere | |
| radius of the sphere |
