Slope of a line through two points
Gives the slope of the straight line through two points by dividing the change in the y-coordinate by the change in the x-coordinate. It is used throughout algebra, geometry and calculus to measure a line's steepness and direction; the formula itself is generic and not specific to cooling flows.
m = \frac{y_{2}-y_{1}}{x_{2}-x_{1}}What the symbols mean
| slope (gradient) of the line, dimensionless or the ratio of the units of y to x | |
| coordinates of the first point (the starting point) | |
| coordinates of the second point (the ending point) |
