Gauss's law
Gives the electric flux through a closed surface as the enclosed charge divided by the vacuum permittivity. It is used to find electric fields in situations with high symmetry.
\Phi_E = \frac{Q}{\varepsilon_0}What the symbols mean
| electric flux through a closed surface (V·m) | |
| net electric charge enclosed by the surface (C) | |
| permittivity of free space (F/m) |
