Linear function
Gives the value of a straight-line function at x from its slope a and y-intercept b. Used to model any relationship where the output changes at a constant rate with the input.
f(x)=ax+bWhat the symbols mean
| value of the function at input x | |
| slope (constant rate of change) | |
| y-intercept, the value of f at x = 0 | |
| independent variable |
