Magnetic flux
Gives the total magnetic field passing through a surface, found by integrating the normal component of the magnetic flux density over the surface. It is used in electromagnetism, for example in Faraday's law and inductance calculations.
\Phi = \int_{S} \boldsymbol{B} \cdot \boldsymbol{e}_{n} \, dAWhat the symbols mean
| magnetic flux (in webers, Wb) | |
| surface over which the flux is taken | |
| magnetic flux density (in teslas, T) | |
| unit normal vector to the surface | |
| infinitesimal element of surface area (in m²) |
