Refractive index
The refractive index of a medium is the ratio of the speed of light in vacuum to the speed of light in that medium. It is used in optics to describe how much light slows and bends when passing through a material.
n = \frac{c_0}{c}What the symbols mean
| refractive index of the medium (dimensionless) | |
| speed of light in vacuum (\mathrm{m/s}) | |
| speed of light in the medium (\mathrm{m/s}) |
