Relative humidity

Gives the relative humidity as the ratio of the actual partial pressure of water vapor in air to the saturation vapor pressure of water at the same temperature. It is used in meteorology, HVAC design and climate control to express how close air is to being saturated with moisture.

\phi = \frac{p}{p_{\mathrm{sat}}}

What the symbols mean

relative humidity (dimensionless, often given as a percentage)
partial pressure of water vapor in the air (Pa)
saturation (equilibrium) vapor pressure of water at the given temperature (Pa)
