Vector length
Gives the length (magnitude) of a vector from its Cartesian components by taking the square root of the sum of their squares. The same idea extends to n dimensions by summing over all components, or to the dot product of the vector with itself.
|\boldsymbol{a}| = \sqrt{a_x^2 + a_y^2 + a_z^2}What the symbols mean
| length (magnitude) of the vector \boldsymbol{a} | |
| x-component of the vector \boldsymbol{a} | |
| y-component of the vector \boldsymbol{a} | |
| z-component of the vector \boldsymbol{a} |
