Conservation of energy
States that the total energy of an isolated system stays constant over time, so the energy at one state equals the energy at a later state. It is used to solve mechanics, thermodynamics and many other problems by equating energy before and after a process.
E_{\mathrm{tot},1}=E_{\mathrm{tot},2}What the symbols mean
| total energy of the system in the initial state (J) | |
| total energy of the system in the final state (J) |
