Electric field strength
The electric field at a point is the electric force experienced by a small test charge placed there, divided by that charge. It is used to describe how charges produce forces on other charges in electrostatics.
\boldsymbol{E} = \frac{\boldsymbol{F}}{q}What the symbols mean
| electric field strength vector (N/C or V/m) | |
| electric force vector on the test charge (N) | |
| electric charge of the test charge (C) |
