Electric power from voltage and resistance
Gives the power dissipated in a resistor when a voltage is applied across it. It is used in circuit analysis and for calculating heating in resistive loads.
P = \frac{V^{2}}{R}What the symbols mean
| electric power dissipated (watts, W) | |
| voltage across the resistor (volts, V) | |
| resistance (ohms, \Omega) |
