Heisenberg uncertainty principle
It gives the lower bound on the product of the standard deviations of position and momentum for a quantum particle, so both cannot be known precisely at the same time. It is used whenever limits on simultaneous measurement precision in quantum mechanics are discussed.
\sigma_{x}\sigma_{p} \geq \frac{\hbar}{2}What the symbols mean
| standard deviation of position \(x\) (m) | |
| standard deviation of momentum \(p\) (kg·m/s) | |
| reduced Planck constant (J·s) |
