Schrödinger equation
This equation gives how the quantum state of a non-relativistic system changes with time, governed by its Hamiltonian. It is the basic dynamical law of quantum mechanics and is used whenever a quantum system's evolution is studied.
\mathrm{i}\hbar \frac{d}{dt} |\Psi(t)\rangle = \hat{H} |\Psi(t)\rangleWhat the symbols mean
| imaginary unit, \(\sqrt{-1}\) | |
| reduced Planck constant (J·s) | |
| time (s) | |
| quantum state vector of the system at time \(t\) | |
| Hamiltonian operator (energy operator) of the system |
