Hermitian conjugate
The Hermitian conjugate of a complex matrix is found by taking its complex conjugate and then transposing it. It is used throughout linear algebra and quantum mechanics, for example to define Hermitian and unitary matrices.
\boldsymbol{A}^{\mathrm{H}} = \overline{\boldsymbol{A}}^{\mathrm{T}}What the symbols mean
| a complex matrix | |
| the Hermitian conjugate of \boldsymbol{A} | |
| the complex conjugate of \boldsymbol{A}, with each entry conjugated | |
| the transpose of \boldsymbol{A} |
