Laplace's equation
A second order partial differential equation stating that the Laplacian of a function is zero, so the function is harmonic. It describes steady-state potentials such as electrostatic, gravitational, and steady heat conduction fields.
\nabla^2 u = 0What the symbols mean
| scalar function of position (e.g. electric potential or steady temperature) | |
| Laplace operator, the divergence of the gradient, equal to \Delta |
