Matrix addition
Two matrices of the same size are added by adding their corresponding entries, so the entry in row i and column j of the sum is the sum of the entries in that position. It is used whenever matrices of identical dimensions are combined in linear algebra.
\left(\mathbf{A} + \mathbf{B}\right)_{ij} = A_{ij} + B_{ij}What the symbols mean
| first matrix of the same size as \mathbf{B} | |
| second matrix of the same size as \mathbf{A} | |
| row index | |
| column index | |
| entry of \mathbf{A} in row i and column j | |
| entry of \mathbf{B} in row i and column j |
