Z-transform
The one-sided Z-transform maps a discrete-time sequence to a function of a complex variable, turning difference equations into algebraic ones. It is used in digital signal processing and control theory to analyse and design discrete-time systems.
X(z) = \sum_{n=0}^{\infty} x_n z^{-n}What the symbols mean
| Z-transform of the sequence, a function of the complex variable z | |
| the n-th term of the discrete sequence, for n = 0, 1, 2, ... | |
| complex variable | |
| discrete time index (integer) |
