de Broglie wavelength
Gives the wavelength associated with a massive particle from its momentum, as proposed by de Broglie for matter waves. It is used in quantum mechanics to estimate when wave behaviour such as diffraction or interference becomes significant.
\lambda = \frac{h}{p}What the symbols mean
| wavelength of the matter wave (m) | |
| Planck constant (J\cdot s) | |
| momentum of the particle (kg\cdot m/s) |
