Drag equation
Gives the drag force on a body moving through a fluid from its drag coefficient, the fluid density, its speed, and its reference area. It is used in aerodynamics and fluid mechanics to estimate resistance on vehicles, projectiles, and other objects.
F_{\mathrm{D}} = \frac{1}{2} C_{\mathrm{D}} \rho v^2 AWhat the symbols mean
| drag force (N) | |
| dimensionless drag coefficient | |
| mass density of the fluid (kg/m^3) | |
| speed of the body relative to the fluid (m/s) | |
| reference area (m^2) |
