Equivalent resistance of resistors in series
The total resistance of resistors connected end to end in a single path is the sum of their individual resistances. It is used to simplify series circuits to one equivalent resistor.
R_{\mathrm{eq}}=R_1+R_2+\cdots+R_nWhat the symbols mean
| equivalent (total) resistance, in ohms (\Omega) | |
| individual resistances of the resistors in series, in ohms (\Omega) | |
| number of resistors in the series connection |
