Weight force
The weight of an object is the gravitational force acting on its mass, found by multiplying the mass by the local acceleration of free fall. It is used to find the force gravity exerts on a body near a planetary surface.
\boldsymbol{F}_{\mathrm{g}} = m\boldsymbol{g}What the symbols mean
| weight, the gravitational force vector (newtons, \mathrm{N}) | |
| mass of the object (kilograms, \mathrm{kg}) | |
| acceleration of free fall vector (metres per second squared, \mathrm{m/s^2}) |
