Planck–Einstein relation
Gives the energy of a quantum of electromagnetic radiation (a photon) from its frequency. It is used throughout quantum mechanics and photon physics.
E=h\nuWhat the symbols mean
| energy of the photon (joules, J) | |
| Planck constant (approximately 6.626\times10^{-34}\,\mathrm{J\,s}) | |
| frequency of the radiation (hertz, Hz) |
