Rotational kinetic energy
Gives the kinetic energy a rigid body has because it rotates about an axis, from its moment of inertia and angular velocity. It is used for spinning wheels, rotors, and any rigid body in rotational motion.
E_{\mathrm{r}} = \frac{1}{2} I \omega^2What the symbols mean
| rotational kinetic energy (J) | |
| moment of inertia about the rotation axis (kg\cdot m^2) | |
| angular velocity (rad/s) |
