Wien's displacement law
Gives the wavelength at which a black body's emitted radiation is strongest, which is inversely proportional to its absolute temperature. It is used to estimate the temperature of hot objects such as stars from their colour or spectrum.
\lambda_{\max} = \frac{b}{T}What the symbols mean
| wavelength of peak spectral radiance (m) | |
| Wien displacement constant, approximately 2.898 \times 10^{-3} m\,K | |
| absolute (thermodynamic) temperature of the black body (K) |
