Center of mass
Gives the position of the center of mass of a system of particles as the mass-weighted average of their position vectors. The continuous version replaces the sums with integrals of density over the body's volume and is used for extended objects.
\boldsymbol{r}_{\mathrm{G}} = \frac{\sum_i m_i \boldsymbol{r}_i}{\sum_i m_i}What the symbols mean
| position vector of the center of mass (m) | |
| mass of particle i (kg) | |
| position vector of particle i (m) |
