Hagen–Poiseuille equation
Gives the pressure gradient needed to drive a steady laminar flow of an incompressible Newtonian fluid through a circular pipe of radius r. It is used to estimate pressure drop and flow rate in narrow tubes and capillaries.
\frac{\mathrm{d}p}{\mathrm{d}x}=\frac{8\mu Q}{\pi r^4}What the symbols mean
| pressure gradient along the pipe axis (Pa/m) | |
| dynamic viscosity of the fluid (Pa·s) | |
| volume flow rate (m^3/s) | |
| inner radius of the pipe (m) |
