Stokes' law
Gives the viscous drag force on a small sphere moving slowly through a viscous fluid at low Reynolds number. It is used in fluid mechanics and in methods such as falling-ball viscometry.
F_{\mathrm{D}} = 6 \pi \eta r vWhat the symbols mean
| drag force on the sphere (N) | |
| dynamic viscosity of the fluid (Pa·s) | |
| radius of the sphere (m) | |
| relative velocity between sphere and fluid (m/s) |
