Kinetic friction force
Gives the friction force acting on a body sliding over a surface as the kinetic friction coefficient times the normal force pressing the surfaces together. It is used whenever an object slides rather than sticks.
F = \mu_{k} F_{n}What the symbols mean
| kinetic friction force (N) | |
| coefficient of kinetic friction (dimensionless) | |
| normal force between the surfaces (N) |
