Mole fraction
Gives the proportion of one component in a mixture as the amount of that component divided by the total amount of all components. It is used in chemistry to describe mixture composition, with the result expressed in mol/mol.
x_{\mathrm{X}} = \frac{n_{\mathrm{X}}}{n}What the symbols mean
| mole fraction of component X (dimensionless, mol/mol) | |
| amount of substance of component X (mol) | |
| total amount of substance of all components in the mixture (mol) |
