pH definition
Gives the acidity of an aqueous solution as the negative base-10 logarithm of the hydrogen ion concentration. It is used in chemistry and biology to express how acidic or basic a solution is.
\mathrm{pH} = -\log_{10}[\mathrm{H}^{+}]What the symbols mean
| acidity of the solution (dimensionless) | |
| molar concentration of hydrogen (lyonium) ions in mol/L |
