Partial pressure of a gas in a mixture
The partial pressure of a gas in a mixture equals its amount-of-substance fraction multiplied by the total pressure. It gives the pressure the component would exert if it alone occupied the mixture's volume at the same temperature.
p_{\mathrm{X}} = y_{\mathrm{X}} \, pWhat the symbols mean
| partial pressure of component X (Pa) | |
| amount-of-substance (mole) fraction of component X, dimensionless | |
| total pressure of the mixture (Pa) |
