Power rule
Gives the derivative of a variable raised to a constant power: the exponent multiplies the power, and the power drops by one. It is the basic differentiation rule used for polynomials and power functions.
\frac{\mathrm{d}}{\mathrm{d}x}x^n = nx^{n-1}What the symbols mean
| the variable with respect to which differentiation is performed | |
| a constant real exponent |
