Product rule
Gives the derivative of the product of two differentiable functions as the first derivative times the second function plus the first function times the second derivative. It is used whenever two functions are multiplied together and the derivative of the combined expression is needed.
\frac{d}{dx}\left(f(x)\,g(x)\right)=f'(x)\,g(x)+f(x)\,g'(x)What the symbols mean
| first differentiable function of x | |
| second differentiable function of x | |
| derivative of f with respect to x | |
| derivative of g with respect to x | |
| independent variable |
