Relative atomic mass
Gives the dimensionless ratio of the average mass of an element's atoms to the unified atomic mass unit. It is used to express atomic masses on a standard scale in chemistry.
A_{\mathrm{r}}(\mathrm{X}) = \frac{\bar{m}(\mathrm{X})}{m_{\mathrm{u}}}What the symbols mean
| relative atomic mass of element X (dimensionless) | |
| average mass of the atoms of element X (kg) | |
| unified atomic mass constant, one twelfth the mass of a carbon-12 atom (kg) |
